AI for Beginners: From Curious to Capable

Everyone's telling you AI will take your job. Nobody's teaching you to use it well enough that it doesn't.

This is a six-week, cohort-paced course for people starting from zero. No coding. No maths. No prior experience. If you can use a browser, you can do this course.

We start by demystifying what AI actually is - not magic, not a search engine, but a system that predicts text. Understand that one thing and almost every strange behaviour you've seen suddenly makes sense, including why it invents facts with total confidence.

From there you'll build the skill that separates people who get useful work out of AI from people who get generic noise: prompting with context, examples, and iteration. You'll apply it to things you're already doing - CVs and job applications, study material, research, messy spreadsheets, presentations.

Then comes the part most free tutorials skip entirely. Week four is about judgement: catching hallucinations, spotting where models get local context badly wrong, knowing what should never be pasted into a chatbot, and being honest about AI use in academic and professional settings. This is what employers are quietly screening for, and it's what makes you useful rather than risky.

In week five you'll stop chatting and start building - a small, repeatable AI workflow that handles a task you do every week.

Your capstone: solve a real problem from your own studies, job search, or side hustle using AI. Submit the work, your process, and an honest account of where AI helped and where you had to override it. A mentor reviews it and either approves it or sends it back with written feedback — the way a real team would.
